Game Transfer Phenomena can be classified into two main categories:

  • Involuntary experiences:
  • Dreams
  • Automatic thoughts
  • Alteration of sensory perception
  • Automatic behaviours
  • Intentional integrations:
  • Using video games as interacting mediums or tools
  • Modelling game character and game events
  • Daydreaming about video games
  • When people become engaged in games they may experience psychological absorption. More commonly known as ‘immersion’, this refers to when individual logical integration of thoughts, feelings and experiences is suspended.2
